A boy was shot dead in northern Minneapolis

He was a campaign trainee for Republican Congressional candidate Lacey Johnson, one of his aides said. The 17-year-old was not carrying out campaign activities when the shooting occurred.

“They are horrific and unnecessary acts of violence like this, which prove why change is needed more than ever in our society,” the campaign said.

Johnson challenges Representative Ilhan Omar in Minnesota’s 5th congressional district for the general election in November.

According to a Minneapolis police spokesperson, the shooting occurred on Monday at the intersection of Fremont Avenue North and Dowling Avenue North at 4:27 p.m.

Two people were killed in the accident. The 17-year-old was rushed to North Memorial Hospital in serious condition, but died of his wounds after 5 pm. The second victim was transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

The suspects fled in the shooting before the police arrived. No arrests were made.
