Pensacola, Fl

Akron Police announced that a 20-year-old has been charged in connection with a fatal accident with a tanker truck on Route 8.

The accident happened on the morning of August 25.

Police say Christopher Loncart, 20, has been charged with vehicle murder, manslaughter, clear distance confirmation and failure to control.

According to police, Luncart swerved to avoid the wreck in the road and collided with another vehicle.

That car was driven by 18-year-old Jared Marcom from North Canton.

The collision propelled his car into the tanker.

Marcom recently graduated from GlenOak High School and was a freshman at the University of Akron.

The tanker then towed the Marcom, causing the tanker to catch fire and locking the Marcom inside.

The crash report was not issued.

The accident released flames and smoke into the air, and the gas was still burning as it traveled through the city’s rainwater drains and into the Cuyahoga River.

The Environmental Protection Agency has also been called in to investigate.

No one was injured in the accident
