The company “Twitter” announced a policy to delete or tag tweets claiming to win any elections before the results are officially verified, according to German News Agency.
This announcement comes within a set of expanded policies that have been revealed, at a time when the social media company seeks to strictly contain false or misleading information less than two months before the US presidential elections.
Twitter said it seeks “to help stop the spread of harmful misinformation that could endanger the integrity of elections or any other civil process.”
Concerns about contesting election results have increased, as millions of voters are expected to vote by mail due to the Coronavirus pandemic; Which could delay the final vote count.
The company had already verified the credibility of some President Donald Trump’s tweets about the mail vote, which was widely considered false.
