A man was shot dead and seven others were injured in gunfire across the city.
The 29-year-old was shot dead in West Humboldt Park.
An unresponsive was found with a gunshot wound to the chest around 8 PM. In the foyer of a home at 1,200 block of North Kildare Street, Chicago police said. His death was announced in Mount Sinai Hospital.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office did not disclose details of the death.
In non-fatal shootings, a 24-year-old mail carrier was left in critical condition after being shot on the south side.
Police said in a statement that they were collecting mail at Block 9100 of South Ellis Street when gunfire broke out from inside at least two cars that crossed the road. The woman was injured in each leg and at the back of her head. Investigators believed it was not the intended target. Paramedics responded around 11:40 am and took her to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
The US Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $ 50,000 for information leading to the shooter’s arrest and conviction, according to a spokeswoman.

The 42-year-old was in his house around 10:50 PM. Police said Building No. 6800 in South Al Barari Street when three men entered and one of them opened fire. He was hit in the thigh and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
Earlier in the night, a man was shot in Calumet Heights on the south side.
At around 8:10 p.m., the 48-year-old was driving at Building 9300 on South Chapel Street when a person in a black car drove past and fired shots. The man was injured in the back and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. He told the officers that he believed the shooting was targeting a person running in the street.
Three men were wounded in separate shooting within two hours.
At about 7:44 PM, a man was shot in Lundell on the west side.
Chicago Police said the 57-year-old was at 3,800 Block of West Flournoy Street when someone shot. Police said he was injured in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
A 31-year-old man was shot at around 6 pm. On the streets of Chicago and Homan in East Garfield Park, police said. He was injured in the pinkie, abdomen and groin, and was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in good condition.
Around 5:40 PM, a man was shot in the leg at South Deering on the south side.
Police said the 21-year-old was on the sidewalk on 2500 Street east of 106th Street when one of them opened fire. The man was injured in the leg and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
The shooting happened shortly after midnight in Gage Park on the South Side.
