A gorgeous 3-month-old snow leopard cub made its debut at Brookfield Zoo in Brookfield, Illinois, after being linked with its mother behind the scenes.
The footage shows the cub Ahava and mother Malaya the pair exploring their enclosure. “Ahava appeared very curious and began exploring her outdoor habitat, which is located along the zoo’s big cat lane, as soon as she was granted access,” wrote the zoo in a press release.
The zoo added: “The snow leopard has been listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
The Snow Leopard Trust estimates that there are between 3,500 to 7,000 of these elusive cats remaining in the wild. “
