The devastated church community mourns the loss of their pastor long ago after he was killed, they said, near a flea market in northwestern Miami Dade.
Cameras captured family and friends holding hands and praying together outside the Ryder Trauma Center.
Church members said the victim, their 20-year-old pastor, was shot when he went to the flea market, northwest of 27th Street and 79th Street, to get something to eat.
Miami-Dade Police and fire rescue units responded to the shooting scene after 6 p.m.
Investigators said the victim was shot in the chest and leg in the parking lot in front of Time’s shoe, a few doors from the indoor flea market.
Medics took him in critical condition to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
7 News cameras filmed at least two cars with shattered windows in the back at the scene.
Investigators spent hours gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. They have also closed a large portion of the car park, as well as part of Northwest 27th Avenue.
Police said the gunman was wearing a face mask, but did not provide further details as they continue their investigation.
