Pathologists performed many autopsies that showed unusual changes in the hearts of patients suffering from “Covid-19” disease caused by the “Corona” virus.
According to the scientists, the cells died separately in some parts of the heart muscle, which greatly surprised the specialists, according to the “Spontik” website.
Experts from the University Medical Center in New Orleans examined the organs of 22 people who had died from complications from Covid-19 disease. Most of the dead were of African descent, between the ages of 44 and 79. Some of them also suffered from high blood pressure, obesity and type 2 diabetes during their lives.
According to the head of the scientific group, Richard Vander Heidi, the study was able to identify several changes that cast doubt on the idea of myocarditis while the patient’s condition was critical.
Experts have no idea the mechanism of heart damage, but they do have several hypothetical theories that require further study.
Compared with the previous virus, “SARS”, scientists did not find any traces of the emerging “Corona” virus in heart cells. There were no blood clots in the deceased.
While the virus is found in some cells of the mucous membrane of veins and capillaries. Heidi noted that patients may have endothelial damage caused by a cytokine (a protein, polypeptide, or glycoprotein used in signal transduction and communication between cells).
