Florida Highway Patrol said a semi-truck crash killed a 21-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man.
The accident occurred at 5:40 pm. On the southbound inclined I-95 at Lem Turner Road.
According to a crash report from Florida Highway Patrol, the truck lost almost control while negotiating a curve on I-95 south near Lem Turner Road. The truck veered toward a concrete curb, then rebounded and collided with a Kia Optima, which was in the right lane.
The collision resulted in the cars colliding with a metal guardrail on the right shoulder of the highway.
Investigators said the driver and passenger were fatally wounded as a result. The truck driver, a 65-year-old man, was not injured.
According to JFRD, the accident caused a fuel leak and hazardous materials crews were called in.
A spokesperson for FHP said the charges are pending based on the outcome of the investigation.
