A cyclist was injured and killed by a vehicle on the lower western side.
Chicago Police reported that the 28-year-old was driving south on Damen Street at around 7:50 am when an eastbound car collided with him at an intersection with Warren Boulevard.
Police said the cyclist was taken to Struger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not disclosed his identity.
Police said the car driver remained at the scene and told investigators that he passed a yellow signal and was unable to stop in time due to the water on the street. No quotes were released until Wednesday afternoon.
Third region investigators are investigating.
