An 18-year-old man was killed in a shooting that also injured a 77-year-old woman working in a park nearby in a suburb north of Chicago.
An armed man appeared in a car around 7:15 pm. In 2000 Square of Greenfield Street, I went out and shot the teen on the way, according to the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.
The name of the 18-year-old boy who died has not been released by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The task force said in a statement that the 77-year-old was hit by a stray bullet in the leg and was taken to hospital. It is expected that she will survive her injury.
The statement stated that the shooter returned to the car and drove off.
