A man is accused of murdering a 3-year-old girl in Austin, on the West Side.
Chicago Police have stated that Terence Space, 23, is charged with a first-degree felony murder.
Lehleni Edwards was found unresponsive in bed around 12:30 a.m. at Block 1000 of North Lockwood Avenue, the Police and Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said. She was taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where she died at 1:21 am.
An autopsy found that she died from multiple wounds from child abuse and her death was ruled a murder, according to the coroner’s office.
SpaceX, who lives in Austin, was arrested at 2:53 PM. Police said that day in the southwestern suburb of Bollingbrook.
He appeared in court and was sentenced to release on $ 1 million bail, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office and court records. It is scheduled to return to court.
A spokesperson for the department said the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services is investigating the girl’s death.
