A newborn baby died after being left in a hot car in Panhandle, Florida, Sheriff officials said.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office provided few details about the case on Thursday. Rescue crews have been called to a home in Panama City after the child was found in the car.
Media reported that the temperature reached its lowest level in the 1990s. Sherif officials said the child may have been left in the car for several hours. The death of the child was announced at the scene of the accident.
KidsandCars.org, a nonprofit child safety organization, said it was their second car accident death in Florida this year.
The News Herald reported that the sheriff’s office is conducting an investigation and will speak to witnesses to fix a timeline of events.
