It’s that time of year again when families – especially children – start thinking about what to include on their Christmas lists.
Walmart released its annual list of the hottest games of the year.
An early dose of Christmas cheer: Walmart offers a sneak peek at exclusive holiday deals
“The highest-rated Kids Toy List ranking for this year reflects the shift in gaming trends and behaviors we’ve seen this year,” Steve Ronchetto, Vice President of Toys at Walmart, said in a statement. “Games play an important role in families’ lives as they spend more time at home and parents look for ways to keep children involved in learning-based play.”
Paw Patrol Dino Patroller, The Jetson Plasma Hoverboard and BopIt with the Baby Yoda theme are expected to be popular items.
The list contains 36 games that have been tested and selected by kids.
“More than any year in the past, we are seeing a strong interest in games that stem from digital platforms, such as games created by micro-influencers, interactive and educational games, screen-free indoor entertainment, and games for active outdoor play,” Ronchetto said.
Walmart trade experts told USA Today that the coronavirus pandemic is pushing children to choose different types of toys this year.
“More time at home means more time, with interactive games that inspire the imagination for hours of fun and learning-based gameplay,” the company said.
Walmart said kids can test the games on the list at the Walmart Wonder Lab virtual lab, a site built in partnership with Eko, the interactive video technology developer.
