a woman was killed in a head-on collision, north of Morgan Cemetery Road in Escambia Province.
The woman, whose age and hometown has not yet been released, was driving a silver sedan north in US 29 down southbound travel lanes at 9:51 p.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. An SUV, driven by a 38-year-old Pensacola woman, traveling south in US 29 was approaching Morgan Cemetery Road.
There was a head-on collision between the two vehicles on southbound travel lanes. As a result of the collision, the silver car caught fire. The sedan driver was declared dead at the scene by Escambia County Fire / Rescue.
The helicopter driver has been taken to a local hospital with severe injuries.
