A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a husband and wife at their home in the southern suburb of Markham.
Officers responded to the welfare check around 4:30 pm. In a house at 16600 Block of Sawyer Street and I saw a person lying in the living room area, Markham Police said.
Police said that authorities made their way inside and found a man dead by multiple stab wounds. During a home search, officers found an unresponsive woman in a stabbed bedroom.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said the couple were Gabrielle Tyson Sr., 66, and Carmela Tyson, 65. Autopsy ruling their death by murder.
Police said that a 21-year-old man was found in another bedroom, sitting on a chair, who had been detained. He is a member of the husband’s family and he also used to live in the house.
Police said there are no other suspects at this time, and charges are pending.
