A 10-year-old girl was killed and a 5-year-old was among three people injured in a crash after a car escaped from a traffic stop in Gresham on the south side.
Officers attempted to stop a black sedan for a traffic offense at 12:27 p.m. Near 80th Street and Halstead, according to Chicago Police.
Police said the car took off, heading west, and collided with a gray car traveling north in Halstead and a Tan car that was stopped in a direction 80 west. Then three people got out of the black car and ran away.
Police said a 10-year-old girl, who was in Tan’s car, was taken to Kummer Children’s Hospital and declared dead.
Police said another 5-year-old passenger was taken to Kummer in critical condition. The 43-year-old brown van driver was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
The 57-year-old woman, who was driving the gray car, was also taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
Police said that District Two investigators are questioning a VIP. The accident is still under investigation.
