Hicago police officers returned fire and injured a man after shooting in their direction in Pilsen.
According to Chicago Police, it’s around 10:45 PM. Officers in an unmarked vehicle were responding to calls from a suspicious person in Building 1300 of West 19 West Street and saw five people on the sidewalk. As the officers got out of their car, shots were fired at them.
Police said the officers returned fire and hit a man in the back of the head.
“Officers from 12 districts responded to reports of a suspicious person in Pilsen. The officers were driving on the street and noticing five people trying to get out of their car and were shot on the spot,” Chicago Deputy Police Chief Daniel O’Shea said on Tuesday.
O’Shea said the man was taken to Struger Hospital in critical condition.
None of the officers were injured.
Police said a weapon was also found at the scene.
Police said two of the suspects fled the scene and two were detained.
