One person was killed and four others were wounded in a shooting at a restaurant in the Morgan Park neighborhood of Chicago.
Three women and two men were shot at around 1:30 p.m. While they were eating at Lumes Pancake House at 11601 South Western Avenue, according to Chicago Police.
Eyewitnesses said that they heard 20-30 shots fired at the restaurant’s large white tent, which was set up in the parking lot and used for additional seats. Organizers say the extra space is especially needed on weekends, as the restaurant is popular with an after-church crowd.
“We can’t say that the people there were in the wrong place at the wrong time, when in fact they are in the right place. They are enjoying Chicago, and they are having fun Sunday afternoon. I myself come here a lot. I love this area,” said Reverend Donovan Price.
