Waver Marian Cardwell finished her 24-hour swim in Lake Michigan on Sunday.

I swam for an entire day, non-stop, along the Wilmette Coast to raise money for the Chicago Diabetes Project, a global collaboration of doctors, scientists and researchers working on diabetes.

She swam across the English Channel in 2012. She wanted to swim across Lake Michigan this summer, but COVID-19 forced her to stay close to home.

You’re still planning to swim the 108 miles from Chicago to Grand Haven, Michigan this coming August. She expects it will take about 70 hours and the longest swimming will be in open water without assistance.
