Authorities said a 7-year-old girl died after a shooting outside a birthday party in South Bend, Indiana.
According to the South Bend Tribune and WBND, the accident happened shortly after 7:30 PM. Outside a home on East Donald Street, where dozens celebrated a child’s birthday. The shooter or shooters inside a passing car shot the house, wounding another child, Chricia Stevens,
Emergency teams rushed Stevens to a nearby hospital, where she died
Media reported that South Bend Police have not stated whether they have arrested any suspects in connection with the case.
Police Chief Scott Ruskowski said in a statement that the girl was one of four people who were shot at over the weekend.
“We have criminally killed nearly 100 people this year,” the statement said. “As a society, we can no longer accept this senseless violence and we must all do our part.”
