Two young men died in a house in the Melrose community in the so-called double murder, according to the Putnam County Police Office.

Allison Waters Merritt, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said details were limited, but lawmakers were called to the house on Shiloh Road around 10:30 am to find the two victims in a “common area” in the house. She said that four adults were living in the house with the two victims, as was another child.

Waters Merritt did not confirm whether the victims were siblings, saying only that they had recently moved into the house and everyone there had a “family relationship.” The sheriff’s office said that the method of death or information about any potential suspects was not disclosed, as everyone in the house is being questioned.

“It is believed that this is an isolated incident that does not pose any danger to society,” the sheriff’s office said.

The house is located about 20 miles west of Palatka, off Florida 26. Investigators said it remains a very active crime scene, with Shiloh Road cordoned off.
