Santa Rosa County Police Office is investigating an accidental drowning after a child is found dead in a small dead pond, lawmakers have confirmed.
Sgt. Rich Aloy told Channel 3 that the child was found around 1:45 p.m.
The sheriff’s office says they were called to Greenview Lane in Gulf Breeze around 11 a.m. in the matter of a young boy who had been lost away from home. Representatives and citizens searched the neighborhood for several hours, to no avail.
The Midway Fire Department was called in to assist the mayor’s office, who used a drone in their search.
The child’s name and age were not disclosed.
Channel 3 crews at the scene say the blessing in the Tiger Point Golf Club community.
