Akron investigators are investigating a shooting that killed an 8-year-old girl.
Police responded to a house in Building 700 on Rozelle Street shortly before midnight.
When the officers arrived, they found 8-year-old Michaela Beckett, who had been shot.
She was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital, where she later died.
Police say Beckett was in the backyard at the time of the shooting. They think she was shot in the back.
There was a large gathering of teenagers in the house before the shooting by the unknown suspects or suspects. Investigators believed that the suspects were outside the house and fired several shots.
There were no arrests.
A spokesperson for Akron Public Schools confirmed that Beckett was a student at the Portage Path Community Learning Center.
