A 12-year-old girl will be honored Wednesday for saving her family from a fire.
The fire broke out shortly after midnight.
12-year-old Destany McKim was the first to smell smoke in the house.
Her mother and grandmother woke up and took them out of the house. One of these women went to the hospital for treatment.
Then she returned to get two dogs out of their homes on the balcony.
Escambia County Fire Rescue Girl Scout nominated McKim for an award.
You will receive a “Bronze Cross of Valor” for Scouts at a party at Molino Fire Station.
