Police said the killing of a man in an apartment in St. Louis County over the weekend is now considered a murder.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch newspaper reported that police were called to the apartment building in southern St. Louis County, where officers found small smoke and fire inside one unit.
After vacating the building and extinguishing the fire, first responders found the body of 62-year-old James Kuyatkovsky inside the apartment.
The police said in a report that a “major bodily injury” contributed to his death, but investigators at the St. Louis County Police Department did not explain how Kuyatkovsky was injured. There were no reports of arrests.
