Police in Florida shot a man she described as a fugitive from North Carolina after an officer was wounded in a bullet-proof vest.
The Miami Herald reported that the 56-year-old man was wanted to shoot police in North Carolina. The officials gave no details or identity of the man.
The Miami County Dade police officer, who was shot in the jacket, was not seriously injured. He was not immediately named.
Before the exchange of fire, officials say there were intense negotiations to persuade the man to surrender, but he did not.
