A Louisiana man pleaded guilty to stabbing his girlfriend, killing 29 times in front of her 1-year-old son.
Damon Osen, 43, pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of manslaughter and obstruction of justice, The Times-Picayune and New Orleans Advocate reported.
District Judge Stephen Enright Jr. sentenced Usain to 60 years and 40 years in prison for manslaughter and 20 years for detention. The sentences will be played consecutively.
Gretna police said Osen and Gray’s 35-year-old were “intermittent” dating, but in the weeks before Gray’s murder, Usain assaulted her.
Gretna police chief Arthur Lawson previously said that Usain left Gray to die on the street early. The couple walked regularly in the neighborhood and the video surveillance camera confirmed that they did this with Ibn Gray around 4 am the morning of the day she was killed.
Lawson said Gray was stabbed 29 times in the face, neck, chest, and back. Her son was not injured.
A major jury had previously accused Ussin of second degree murder, but he agreed to plead guilty to a revised charge of manslaughter.
