Investigators said that a 3-year-old Kansas girl whose remains were found earlier this month had bruises and died from a brain hemorrhage.
The remains of Olivia Ann Jansen from Kansas City, Kansas, were discovered after her father, Howard Jansen III, reported her loss. The 29-year-old father and his 33-year-old girlfriend, Jacqueline Kirkpatrick, were charged with homicides and other crimes.
Her grandparents said they raised concerns about her safety with child protection services.
There is a possible reason for a written admission in the criminal case, the father says of the girl’s disappearance saying he saw her sleeping on the sofa at 6 pm. The night before
Her body was found in a shallow grave in a forested area the same day it was reported that she had been lost.
Court papers said that she was severely injured and it was clear to anyone who saw her that she had been subjected to severe physical abuse. Her face, arms, and legs were covered in bruises.
She also had a small cut in the back of her head, and an autopsy revealed significant bleeding in the back of her brain, causing her death.
