Two teenagers playing basketball at a New York City stadium were shot dead in a drive-by shooting filmed in a surveillance video – among seven murders linked to a pistol reported to New York police.
New York Police detective chief Rodney Harrison tweeted with a video of a hooded character firing a pistol as he pulled out of the hatch of an SUV that was moving slowly across the field. Shots can be heard.
“The perpetrator beat three people, killing innocent teenagers playing basketball,” Harrison said.
It happened in the evening at George Walker Junior Park in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.
A New York police spokesman has identified the two murder victims, Clymer Mendes, 16, from Brooklyn, and 17-year-old Antonio Villa, from Queens.
They were shot in the head.
The other person who was shot by a 17-year-old boy was shot in the leg.
The investigators made no arrests and were working to find a motive.
“I heard five or six shots,” Lawrence Ludoucher told WPIX-TV. “I turned around and there were two lying on the floor.”
The seven dead deaths occurred between 12:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. A woman was the eighth woman to be stabbed to death in the Bronx.
