The quick action of the neighbor and the postal carrier rescued a woman who had been attacked by her 100-pound dog. The woman was taken to hospital on her way to recovery after undergoing two surgeries, one on each of her arms.
Jane Presutto-Canon, 33, says Wednesday noon, I heard her dog Zeus, a 16-month-old cane corso screaming in the backyard. She says when she went out to inspect him, his paw was stuck under a portion of the fence. Just before he got there, Zeus jumped and closed his arm with his jaws.
Then I heard her cry, “Oh my God, help me.” He remembers biting, biting me, helping me, helping me. ”Remember neighbor Linda Morrow.
As Moro rushed to help, Presutto-Canon pulled the dog away by grabbing its collar.
“For some reason, she was able to take it off and she was able to reach her feet and was sitting next to her,” Morrow said.
As the old neighbor approaches, says Zeus attacked his owner again.
“All I did was move her foot and her dog rode it again. Moro said this time it was more aggressive against her.
At that time, postal operator Alex Uber was making his daily rounds of the neighborhood and hearing the commotion.
“I looked across the fence, put my mailbox, put the mail on the ground and jumped over the fence to look. Uber said,” I was looking at the top and I could see her pulling the dog. “
Uber says he carries with him several mace boxes and one ladder to the neighbor. Meanwhile, Morro’s husband grabbed two pieces of the dog cage for use as a defense against the dog.
“I managed to take the mace, take the little fence, and take the dog out. Then we managed to distract my attention with me long enough that I could sprinkle it in the mouth with the mace.
“Janay managed to climb on her feet, ran to the gate, grabbed her and pulled us out,” Moreau said.
Presutto-Canon was transferred to the Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorraine where she was treated for 27 puncture wounds on her arms and back. She returned home Thursday.
Presutto-Canon says it received Zeus as a birthday gift last October when it was four months old. She says he was neutralized and underwent obedience training. She also took him with her to the pet stores and nursing homes where she was working. Presutto-Canon says she doesn’t know why he’s going to attack her.
Her neighbor and the mail carrier say they were also surprised that the dog would manage its owner.
“Friendly … means that he knows all of these children.” Morrow said: “She has a four and a half year old child who struck him as if he were a toy.”
Zeus was anesthetized and tested for rabies, although Presutto-Canon says he is talking about rabies shots. She says she also put her other dog to sleep because she started being aggressive towards her after she came home from the hospital.
She feels lucky that her neighbors and the courier managed to save her.
Uber said: “Between me and the neighbors, we were able to do something together.”
The United States Postal Service issued a statement saying:
“The Postal Service is proud of Alex Uber to help the woman who was attacked by the dog and we wish her a speedy recovery. Our couriers are located in the neighborhoods every day, and many of them have helped customers in emergency situations. Mr. Uber will be nominated for the Postmaster General Hero Award for his heroic efforts. “
