A human skull was found in the Michigan home of a man who was shot dead in eastern Tennessee last week, authorities said.
The remains were discovered on Monday in Trenton, Michigan, by the new owners of Mark Eberly’s former home.
Iberly was found dead after the exchange of fire with Cumberland County sheriff’s deputy last week.
New homeowners saw a skull in the fire pit of the house and contacted the police immediately.
According to WJBK, the police said Eberly had moved from Trenton’s residence sometime in the past few months during the COVID-19 pandemic. The neighbors told WJBK that Eberle had night fires in the hole before moving away.
Investigators say only one person’s remains have been found.
