The US Navy said that a bullet at its Corpus Christi Air Force Base in Texas is no longer a threat, after a security guard was injured in the accident that occurred early this morning.
The US Navy Information Office said in a statement that the shooting started at 6:15 am (11:15 GMT) and resulted in minor injuries to the sailor, who then left the hospital.
The same rule wrote in a Facebook post that the closure of the base had been canceled and the Navy said a team from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) would lead the investigation into the incident.
Last year, a gunman killed three American sailors in an attack at the Pensacola Naval Base in Florida, days after a US sailor shot three civilians at Pearl Harbor Military Base in Hawaii, killing two of them and then committing suicide.
