Johnson & Johnson has decided to stop selling its primary product, Johnson Powder for Children, in the United States and Canada.
The health-care giant is facing thousands of lawsuits from consumers who claim that these company’s products have caused cancer.
The move comes after years of legal disputes that obligated Johnson & Johnson to pay billions of dollars in compensation and the company has consistently defended the safety of its products.
And announced that it will stop in the coming months sales of the product, which constitutes about 0.5 percent of its trade in the United States, with retailers continue to sell the existing stock.
The company faces more than 16,000 consumer protection lawsuits, claiming that the company’s “talc” products are contaminated with asbestos, the known carcinogen.
