A number of people were injured in a shooting in the province of Nova Scotia, but the Canadian police did not announce if there were any dead.

Canadian police have identified the gunman in rural Portabic and said he is named Gabriel Wortman, 51, and asked residents not to approach him.

In a series of Twitter posts, the police followed that Portman is now in a car similar to that of the Royal Canadian Police and in police uniform.

Indiscriminate shooting is rare in Canada, where the laws to bear arms are stricter compared to the United States.
