Netflix, online broadcast services company, said that it made some films and documentaries free of charge on its YouTube channel at the request of teachers.

The move comes after the spread of the Corona virus prompted educational institutions to close their doors and obligated millions of students to stay in homes, forcing schools and universities to choose virtual methods to continue the classes.

The decision to display free content on YouTube is a rare exception to Netflix’s marketing strategy, which imposes monthly subscription fees on users.

With the increase in internet usage rates under Corona, Netflix faces huge competition from Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus.
