After being added last month to the flexible Comcast platform for broadband subscribers, the Hulu app is now integrated into Xfinity X1 devices.
Starting with the case, X1 customers can broadcast Hulu AVOD and ad-free versions. Hulu offers a VOD library with thousands of titles, FX on Hulu programming, and original Hulu assets including shows, movies, and documentaries.
X1 users can also access Hulu display optimization features such as the “Taste Picker” function. Hulu works with the Xfinity audio remote, and Hulu software stands out in the Flex and X1 manuals.
Existing Hulu subscribers can use their login credentials with the Hulu X1 app. Other X1 users need to subscribe through Hulu.
While Disney now controls Hulu playback, Comcast still owns 33% of the streaming service. Under the corporate agreement, Comcast may require Disney to purchase its stake as early as 2024. Comcast’s NBCUniversal is obliged to distribute Hulu services on demand and live TV shows until late 2024. Comcast says it offers 2,000 hours of free shows and movies for Xfinity streaming video on demand customers. It is part of the Internet provider’s goal to provide educational content to children and parents who isolate themselves or quarantine at home while the coronavirus is spreading.
The education group is organized by grade level, from kindergarten through twelfth grade. Includes topics and lessons across history, English, mathematics, science, social studies, reading, yoga, biographies, animals, and the arts.
“Xfinity provides thousands of hours of tutorials and resources available to our customers through Xfinity on demand as we know how difficult it is for families that suddenly teach young children at home – many of them both parents work,” said Rebecca Hibb, Senior Vice President. Video and entertainment in Comcast.
Some of the suite, which is provided in partnership with Common Sense Media, is also available on devices with the Xfinity Stream app and website, and on Xfinity Flex
